The Opportunity

Are you ready to be a Tax Manager and still keep your involvement with 1065s, 1120s and 990s? As our Tax Manager, you will be given sole responsibility over the entire tax department. Our team will recognize you as our tax expert and leader in the success of client returns and engagement.

At Lemler Group, our client tax returns are sprinkled throughout the year, due to the various year ends of not-for-profits. Currently, you have the chance to provide the following returns:

  • Real Estate Partnership Returns: 100
  • Not-for-profit Returns: 60
  • Personal Property Returns: 75

95% of our tax returns come off of numbers generated from the financial statements (audits), meaning there is a jump start provided for you on the tax return. It all starts with CCH Engagement and transfers into ProSystem fx tax. No worries about equity not rolling forward or other frustrating items – information is ready to go!

Core Responsibilities for Success

Every day has the likelihood to be unique! As our Tax Manager, you will have the opportunity to spend your time on various responsibilities that will maintain and up-level the department, making your role essential to our success. Some core responsibilities of this role are:

  • Setting up, prepping, and filing 1065s, 1120s, and 990s
  • Communicating directly and promptly to clients for approvals, in response to posed questions, and regarding the explanation of changes made from the previous year
  • Evaluating for areas of process improvement and the ability to implement new efficiencies
  • Collaborating with the partner on strategy and decisions
  • Coordinating and participating with the audit team for current client and process assessment, as well as assistance with basic audit work when needed
  • Attending not-for-profit board meetings as needed for tax return presentation
  • Leading educational moments for the audit team in effort to bridge the relationship between audits and tax returns and their impact to the client
  • Contributing topics and understanding of industry trends for blogs

What We Look For

This position will be fulfilled entirely on-site. We work best when we are physically together, being able to collaborate, ask questions, and adjust in real time. Our busy season typically spans from the middle of January through the end of March. This will require up to 60-hour weeks to meet various deadlines. Outside of busy season, hours will fluctuate between 35-45 hours, pending required work. We are also looking for someone who meets the following criteria:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
  • 2+ years in an accounting or tax organization
  • Experience with 1065s and 1120s; 990s experience is a plus
  • The ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities
  • Strong influential skills with the desire to assess existing processes for improvements
  • CPA or EA preferred
